We are pleased to present the Youth for Water and Climate Programme (YWC Programme) financed by Erasmus+. This project is led by the International Secretariat for Water – Solidarity Water Europe in collaboration with Cewas, Global Water Partnership, Global Water Partnership Hungary, Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe, and GoodPlanet Belgium.
The YWC Programme is an 8-months capacity-building course for young professionals in the water and climate sector. What is this program offering?
- Learning opportunities thanks to the Youth for Water & Climate Career Curriculum;
- Mentoring from experienced professionals, and;
- Connecting youth and water practitioners through a wide community of practice.
After months of preparation, the partners are getting ready to launch the pilot phase of the YWC program with the first cohort of participants. During this phase, Erasmus+ gives the opportunity to 20 young water professionals from Europe to utilize their knowledge and engage the program to develop their professional skills or own project ideas in the water and climate sector. It includes 2 five-days in-person workshops, mentorship opportunities, support in finding an internship, a community of practice and a completely online curriculum. Climate change is disrupting weather patterns, leading to extreme weather events, unpredictable water availability, exacerbating water scarcity and contaminating water supplies. Climate change is happening now. We must act, and water is part of the solution.
With this program, we aim to empower the next generation of water and climate leaders.
